IMO ‘B’ Watertight Sliding Fire Door Sign – FS0235
This ‘B’ watertight sliding fire door sign, marked “WT”, identifies a sliding fire door within a ‘B’ class fire division that carries a full watertight rating. ‘B’ class divisions carry a lower fire-resistance rating than ‘A’ class divisions under SOLAS Chapter II-2, and this door runs on a track rather than swinging on hinges, so it must be manually or mechanically closed to restore both the fire division and the watertight boundary.
A watertight sliding fire door left open or chocked on its track loses its protective value the moment it is defeated – both fire integrity and the watertight seal are compromised. This sign reminds crew and passengers to keep the track and door leaf clear and to close the door fully after passing through.
